Description

The Departments of Pediatrics and Neurology in the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, are recruiting for a physician-scientist in the Division of Neonatology or Division of Child Neurology. Applicants whose work is relevant to elucidating fundamental disease mechanisms of newborn/pediatric brain injury and/or translating these insights into improved therapies are dtly encouraged to apply. The successful MD or MD, PhD applicant will join robust inter-departmental research programs in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology, Neuroscience and Fetal-Neonatal Medicine. She/he will also participate in graduate student education through membership in the Biomedical Medical Sciences program. She/he will participate fully in the clinical and teaching activities of the relevant clinical Division. The successful applicant will hold a primary appointment in either the Department of Pediatrics or the Department of Neurology depending on her/his clinical expertise and will also be a member of the NBRI.

The appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor and the successful applicant will be provided with laboratory and office space and with start-up funds. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated ability to obtain extramural support through the KO8, RO1 or equivalent mechanisms. Candidates must be American Board of Pediatrics Sub-board certified/eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal medicine, or Neurology Sub-board certified/eligible in Child Neurology.
